Mount Papandayan located in Garut regency, West Java, Indonesia. And its geographic position is located at 7.32 º South Latitude and 107.73 º East Longitude. Mount Papandayan has stratovolcano type and has four large crater that is Crater Mas, New Crater, Crater Nangklak, and Crater Manuk, but after the crater erupted in 2002 the crater change into a large crater area, and more clearly visible from a distance. Mount Papandayan crater open to the public and easily visited by visitors who have never climbed the mountain though.

The road to the crater of Mount Papandayan tourist complex has been paved and passable by four wheel vehicles including buses. Parking for visitors is quite convenient because the vehicle parking area is flat and quite spacious. To reach the crater of Mount Papandayan from the parking area we just walk about 30 minutes. Although only about 30 minutes away but we should not forget to bring lunch and drinking water from the bottom of the food supplies could be obtained in other stalls in the parking lot.

Road to Mount Papandayan

For those who want a challenging climbing routes, trekking can find a path from the plaza Pondok Salada to the top of the mountain and then down through the top of this mountain ridge. The path of this path ends in the rear parking area. Trekking path takes approximately 6 hours.
